Could We Recreate Gojo's Infinity in Real Life?

This is one I've been thinking about for 3 months now

✦

If you've seen Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, you already know about his absolutely cracked cursed technique—Infinity.

It basically ensures that nothing can ever truly touch him. He’s untouchable.

So naturally, as part of my random thoughts, I started wondering:

Could something like Infinity exist in real life? (without cursed energy, obviously)

What Even Is Infinity?

Gojo's Infinity is essentially a technique where he creates an infinite amount of space between himself and anything approaching him.

So instead of something hitting him, it just:

  • slows down
  • slows down more
  • and basically never reaches him

I won’t lie—that would be insane in real life.

Imagine:

  • bullets can’t touch you
  • nothing can physically reach you
  • you’re basically living in The Matrix

So I started thinking… how could we even begin to replicate something like this?

My Initial Idea: Electromagnets

At first glance, it almost feels possible.

Electromagnets can create invisible fields that push and pull objects without touching them. That’s already kind of similar to what Gojo does—stopping things before they reach him.

We already use this in real life:

  • Maglev trains float using magnetic fields
  • MRI machines generate insanely strong magnetic forces
  • Scientists can even trap tiny particles using electromagnetic fields

So the idea of ā€œstopping something before it touches youā€ isn’t completely crazy.

However, There Are Some Issues...

The problem is scale… and physics doesn’t like cheating.

1. Magnetic Fields Don’t Stop Everything

Electromagnets only affect certain materials:

  • metals (especially iron)
  • charged particles

If you throw:

  • a plastic bottle
  • a wooden stick
  • or even just your hand

…it goes straight through.

No Infinity.

2. You’d Need Ridiculous Power

To stop something moving fast—like a bullet—you’d need a magnetic field strong enough to counter that force instantly.

We’re talking about:

  • massive energy consumption
  • extremely high field strength (way beyond normal tech)

At that point, you’re less ā€œGojoā€ and more walking power plant.

3. The Speed Problem

Gojo’s Infinity works automatically—things slow down before they reach him.

In real physics:

  • fields don’t react instantly
  • changes propagate at the speed of light

Which sounds fast, but not:

ā€œperfect infinite barrier from all directions at all timesā€ fast.

4. Control Is Basically Impossible

Even if you somehow had the power, you’d still need:

  • perfect precision
  • constant adjustment in all directions
  • real-time tracking of every object coming toward you

That’s borderline impossible with current technology.

So… Is It Possible?

Short answer: not really.

Long answer: electromagnets can mimic tiny parts of the idea—like pushing things away without touching them—but nothing even close to Gojo’s Infinity.

That’s the part where anime just goes:

ā€œyeah… we’re not following real-world physics anymore.ā€

Final Thought

I still think it’d be insanely cool if we could figure something like this out someday.
